Feline Leukemia (FeLV)
This is one of the most serious and eventually terminal feline diseases. It is transmitted from cat to cat through urine, tears, saliva, blood, excrement and from mother to kitten. Certain cats will succumb to secondary infections rapidly, since these can appear while the cat’s immune system is at its lowest. A blood test helps to detect the presence of this virus. A cat can test positive and then 3 months later, test negative.
